Letter of warning to the churches of New England
August 19, 2008
By: jbarron

Dear friends,

I and many others have been deeply troubled recently over what seems to be a watering-down of the Gospel of Christ in a once deeply loving, highly effective and fruitful church in New England.

The church, by many reports, seems to have lost intimate contact with its Creator, the Author and Finisher of its faith...

Attendance is down, and long-time, Christ-loving members are leaving, broken-hearted...

Many elders, deacons, pastors and worship leaders have left over the last few years, for various reasons...

A doctrine of what one of its former pastors warned about, "cheap grace", is being preached from the pulpit.

Remember, Paul warns , in Romans 6:1-2

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

He adds: Romans 6: 15...What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ reminds us repeatedly, as in John 14:15,

If you love me, you will obey what I command.

God's word speaks volumes.

Please join me in prayer to ask the Lord to bring this church to repentance and to rebuild its broken walls.

May they, and other churches, similar to them, hear and obey, driven by God's loving kindness, 2 Chronicles 7:14.

The end is nearer than we think.

Who is your Master?

Enclosed is a revealing review of an author who, I am convinced has helped undermine the understanding of God's grace. Please read it carefully and prayerfully.

With love, John "Bannerman" Barron
